Fuel Pressure Regulator - VW Bug

Well, I think I finally figured out the performance problems with my 1970 VW Bug - it was the cheap round EMPI fuel pressure regulator I was using. Sometimes the engine ran fine… other times, it acted like it was out of gas or had a horrible vacuum leak. I replaced everything in the fuel system except that regulator so…

I put down the $30 to get a Holley fuel pressure regulator that runs from 1-5 PSI - a perfect match for my Carter 4070 Fuel Pump. I had to order the fittings separately and use teflon tape on them to keep them from leaking but it seems to have fixed my problem; I drove to work and back last week without any issues. Take a look at the picture below. I mounted the regulator on the firewall behind the air cleaner. It’s a tight fit, but it fits just right.
